US SAILING Navigation 1 Essential Marine Navigation
With the demise of paper charts in the US, sailors have joined aviators and terrestrial navigators
in using electronic charts. In this 2-day, 16-hour class, you will learn all the concepts of marine
navigation along with practicing building routes on an iPad and extracting information from an
electronic chart. This class leads to US Sailing’s Nav 1 certification.

This two-day, in person navigation course teaches you how to use an electronic navigation system using provided iPads with Navionics installed.

Prerequisites
There is no prerequisite for Navigation 1 Certification. This course is a prerequisite for Bareboat
Cruising and Inshore Powerboat Cruising Certifications (and is therefore a prerequisite for an
International Proficiency Certificate).
